International Dinner
January 20th, 2006
As part of our fund raising for the John Whiffen Golden City Memorial Trust, we are hosting an International Dinner on the 18 Feb. The dinner will be for about 20 people, with each course from a different county. Now while we have an idea of what we are going to serve, we thought what a great opportunity it is to host a once-off food event, and to perhaps bring some awareness to the trust and to disabilities in general.
So, we would love to have your suggestions as to regional dishes that you recommend as per the outline!
Please let us know by 13 Feb (so we have time to make a final decision and get all the ingredients), and we will collate the replies, and then let you know what the final menu is, as well as providing the recipe’s and photo’s for the menu. Please leave a link to your post as a comment, or email the post and a small photo please. You can email to cdstrachan AT gmail DOT com.
Here is the basic outline:
| Entre | American (North, South, Mexico or Caribbean) |
| Starter | Thai, Chinese or Japanese |
| Main Course | South African (or just African) |
| Desert | Italian |
| Finished off by… | Cheese and Biscuits, which are of course, French |
The John Whiffen Trust is committed to providing communication and leadership training to both physically and mentally disabled people in Southern Africa. Please see this previous post for more details about the trust.
If you are interested in donating to the trust, please let us know and we will gladly provide you with the banking details.

Well, I’m not sure if my lotus root sandwiches will be appropriate for the starter course but here’s the link for your reference. You guys are doing a good thing and I wish you every success!

Good point – India has some of my favourite foods. Give me a suggestion and we can always change the menu.
ps: my house is called ‘Jalna’, which I beleive is a region in India :-)
