Many years ago, my sister, Sally used to have a blanket that went everywhere she went. This was her la-la blanket. Now, I have no idea how it ended up with us, but somehow this blanket has spent the last few years at our house as a dog blanket.

Those of you who have been following this blog will know that Lois recently acquired a new guide-dog, Eccles. Eccles, who is a cross between a Labrador Retriever, and a Golden Retriever, has now started carrying this blanket around the house. She does not chew or slobber on it, she just carries it around the house.

Having four dogs, we of course have quite a few dog blankets. Eccles ignores the other blankets (except to sleep on), and picks up this particular blanket to carry around. So, it appears that what was once a security blanket, has (some 25 or so years later), once again become a security blanket, this time for a very cute dog called Eccles.

Sally now has one little girl, and another on the way. I don’t think that she is really going to want the blanket back, perhaps I had better offer to buy the new girl another blanket!

Update: today (18/1/2006) she tried to pick up a tennis ball and the blanket at the same time. She managed to do this by wraping the ball into the blanket and carrying it. How many dogs do you know that can do that?
