Two orchids to Telkom
March 28th, 2006About two weeks ago I applied on the Telkom website to upgrade my home line to ADSL (the WiFi was getting too slow). They phoned me about two days after I applied (strangely enough from their call centre in Durban), gave me a reference number and told me that it would take about a month before they could install (I wasn’t really happy about the month – but not much I could do…).
About three days later, the technician phoned me to ask if he could come in two days time to install. He arrived not on time, but ½ hour early, and installed everything in about ten minutes, and it all worked first time!
I have heard many horror stories about ADSL installations, about how the installation never worked, how the installation worked, but then the telephone stopped working etc, so I was a bit nervous, and to be honest, Telkom do not exactly have the best reputation for good service and getting things right first time.
So Telkom, congratulations on a fast and efficient service – I was very impressed. The entire process from filling out the form on the website to the final working installation took about ten days.
I know that you guys are on strike at the moment so I expect that the service levels are not quite so high at the moment, but when you get back to work, keep it up!
Two orchids to Telkom.
