Congratulations to Lois!
May 23rd, 2006Lois and I have just come back from the annual Maxicon Toastmasters Conference (Playcon). While it was a great conference, the main hilight for me was the AGM.
You may well ask how on earth an AGM could be considered a hilight. Well, it’s simple, both Lois and myself were standing for district officer positions. I had nobody standing against me, so I was not too concerned for myself, however Lois was opposed. Hence, it was a very nail-biting affair.
Anyway, so we had the elections, and much to my relief, Lois was elected as Lieutenant Governor Marketing (for Southern Africa), and myself as Division D Governor (for Western Cape and Namibia). This does of courser mean that Lois receives a sponsored trip to USA in August to receive training, so we are off to Washington in August!!!
Somewhat unexpectedly, Lois’ father, Brian Gowans was elected from the floor as District Treasurer, so it seems to be a little bit of a family affair.
It looks like it is going to be a busy year…

Hi Guys. We have already said congratulations but having read the latest epistle from the Cape just want to say once again a hearty well done, great stuff. Enjoy Washington and we look forward to hearing about it all in a future Notes from the Cape.
