Happy Birthday Mr Mandela – I hope you have a great 89′th birthday!

You have been an inspiration to all of us, not just in South Africa, but all around the world.

You played a huge role in the democratisation of South Africa, and helped our country to become a wonderful place, for which we are all extremely grateful.

You have raised the awareness of AIDS, and helped to unite everybody, black and white, young and old to fight the dreadful disease (you also hosted a pretty amazing gig in Green Point).

You make me proud to be South African.

Ps: Last year Lois and I were in Philadelphia, and we went to visit the Liberty Bell. In the museum where the bell lives there was a 2x2m photograph of Mr Mandela, along with one of his quotes on liberty and peace. I felt very proud to be South African, in that Mr Mandela’s quote was right next to one of the America’s most famous artifacts.
