iPhone in the blender?

Share

I found the most bizarre video of an iPhone being put through its paces in a blender on Youtube.

Bizarre, but kind of compelling…

What do you think?

An appeal to all bloggers

Share

I read 40+ blogs on a regular bases. I read all of them through a RSS feed reader (GreatNews and FeedReader are both free readers – they are both pretty good).

Some bloggers provide the full text of their posts in their feeds, and some only provide an extract – usually the first few lines. The idea of course being to get you to visit their site and get their hit rates up (and perhaps click on an ad or two while you are there).

Here’s the secret. I don’t have the inclination to read the first few lines and then click through to the blog to read the entire article. There are plenty of really good blogs out there without me having to do that.

Maybe I am shooting myself in the foot, but when I read 40+ blogs, I don’t have time to click through to the perhaps 100 posts that are created daily – it defeats the whole point of having a news reader.

So, all the blogs that I read provide the full post in the feeds. I wonder how many other people feel the same as me.

Folks – please provide the full articles in your feeds.

Rain rain go away, come back next winter

Share

Cloud

Today is the 22nd of November, and it is raining outside – again!

Over 200 homes in the Overberg were damaged, several roads were washed away, and it is cold and wet. Last night alone, Caledon experienced 100mm of rain, and the weather service has warned of flash flooding.

This summer is oscillating between hot & sunny and cold & rainy. Whenever summer seems to be arriving, it slips away in the rain. This is driving me crazy!

Come on rain, it is November, so please go away and come back next June when it is supposed to be winter – please give us our summer back.

(at least our dams are full – they are at 99.5% capacity and after this rain I am sure that we are going to go over 100%)

Update: In the last 36 hours, George had over 170mm rain!

A Great Idea for our Bookshops

Share

Here is a great idea for our bookshops.

When I left Phoenix, I went to the local airport bookshop to buy a book for the flight and the last few days of holiday ( ok – so I was going to New York and hardly needed a book!). But anyway, the bookshop had a great policy.

If you bought any book and returned it within months, you get a 50% refund. All the books that had been returned were for sale in the bookshop at a 50% discount. So everybody wins.

  • The bookshop the sells the book for what it paid for (50% of cover price ) – so they break even. However the probability is that the person selling the book is going to buy a new book – so they get a sale.
  • The person selling the book essentially gets a 50% discount.
  • The person buying the second-hand book gets a book at 50% off!

So, Exclusive Books and your friends, how about a similar policy? I can see it working very well for the regular travelers, and it will generate more interest in books (especially with the local price of books!).

The bookshop is called The Paradies Shops (sic), and they seem to be in most airports in USA. I never had the opportunity to make use of the policy – but well done on having it anyway – 1 orchid to you.
