It was 44 years ago today…!

The_beatles Yes, on Friday 7 Feb 1964, the Beatles touched down at JF Kennedy airport, New York! This was the beginning of their first USA tour, a tour which took the USA by storm. After this tour, the Beatles had firmly broken into the USA market.

Can you believe it, 44 years ago! In fact, it was over 40 years ago when Sgt Pepper taught the band to play. I wonder how many of our current bands will still be remembered in 40 or 50 years time – not many I suspect. I can just see Britney Spears “Oops I did it again” being remembered in 40 years – naa, I think not.

Or how abour "ohh ohh ohh, I want your ahh ahh ahh"? Ok, so I made that one up, but you get the picture.

I am pretty sure that in 40 years time, people will still be singing "there’s a lady who’s sure/all that glitters is gold…"

I think that I will hang onto my CD’s for a while!

An appeal to bloggers (again!)

Warning : slightly techie post

I have just downloaded a fantastic list of 78 great public speaking blogs. Ok, so I am biased because my other blog is actually on the list.

One great thing about the list is that it includes the OPML file, which is what feed readers use to import and export RSS feeds. So, after installing the list I had a quick look throught the feeds.

About 1/3 of them only provide the first 100 words or so! Guess which feeds I am not going to be reading. Guess which feeds I deleted. Yes folks, all of the feeds that do not provide full content.

The fact is that myself (and many other blog readers) do not have the time or the inclination to physically visit all blog sites that we read. We do a lot of surfing through feed readers, and there are many great blogs that do provide the full content in the feed! So the fact is that if you want your readership to increase, provide the full content in your feeds – simple!

By the way, I notice that Scott Adams (as in Dilbert) briefly changed his feeds to only provide the first few words, and I see that he has since changed it back to show the full content. I wonder why…..

Oops, I did it again…

Craigs_hair_2…OK, so I did it for the first time!

Recently I started to shave my own hair, it is cheaper, and far more convenient. So today in preparation for my first day back at work after over two months off, I thought that I would cut my hair.

Well, I was about 1/2 way through my shave when I realised that I had forgotten to attach the #1 attachment. So, today I have a REALLY short haircut!

Hope you like it, I think it looks kind of cool.
