The road less travelled
I posted a shot a few days ago of Dan Patlansky playing at Kirstenbosch. Here is a shot that I took on the way back to my car. This is actually the main path between the carpark and the concert area, but it just looks so inviting and refreshing. You have to wonder what is waiting just around the corner. Well I am not going to tell you. You shall have to visit the gardens yourself if you wish to find out.
Dan Patlansky at Kirstenbosch
Dan Patlansky played at Kirstenbosch about two weeks ago. He is only 26, but he plays that Strat like he has been doing it for 50 years. Once of the best blues guitarists I have ever heard.
If you have not heard him play, find out when he is gigging in your area and go see him. It is really worth it.
Stream at Kirstenbosch
A couple of six second exposure of one of the streams inside Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town. Kirstenbosch,
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is truly one of the most beauthful gardens in the world. It covers approximately 46 hecatares, and contains a staggering 7000 different plant species. The Cape Floristic Region, which includes Kirstenbosch, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site –the first botanic garden in the world to be included.
We were there for a picnic to celebrate a friend’s birthday, you are welcome to take your own picnics, but they also have two wonderful restaurants.
Magic Tree at Kirstenbosch
A few years ago, a Yellow wood tree in Kirstenbosch Gardens split in half during a storm. The team at Kirstenbosch simply filled the gap with soil, left the tree and hoped for the best. If you look at the picture below, you can clearly see the split in the middle.
The amazing thing is that the tree just continued to grow, and is quite happy and healthy. Amazing what nature can do, isn’t it.
So, now the tree is known as the Magic Tree, because to survive what it went through must have been magic!
Pretty amazing!
