Bourtzi Castle
Bourtzi Castle is a lovely Venetian fortress in Naplio harbour. It was built in the 1400’s and was initially a prison and home of the chief executioner, and in the 1970’s it was a hotel, but now you can only go there for day visits. It’s lovely to look at from Naples harbour, and at night the whole island is lit up.
Naplio harbour
Following on my last post, here is a view of the little down harbour, another peaceful place to enjoy a post-dinner walk. Looking towards the own you can see Fortress Palamidi, the Venetia-build fortress up on the hill, and if you turn around you cans the venetian fortress of Bourtzi Castle, another Venetian-built fortress. It is such a lovely place to spend a few days.
The streets of Naplio
Naplio is a charming little down in the Penepolese in Greece. I could spend hours wondering around the cobbled streets, looking at the wonderful old buildings and squares. It is so quiet and peaceful; I can see why it is such a popular weekend destination for the Athenians.
